With a population of above 135 crores, India is one of the most diverse countries. It is the second most populated country, the 7th largest country by area, and the world’s most populous democracy. But when it comes to cleanliness, it falls at the bottom of the list of cleanest countries in the world. So why not go through the cleanest cities in India?
Here Is A List Of The Top 15 Cleanest Cities In India:
1. Indore, Madhya Pradesh
This city is the cleanest in India due to its political and administrative will. The city managed to resolve about 90% of its solid waste. Indore managed to top the list of cleanest cities in India for four years consecutively, including the year 2020, as announced by the urban development ministry.
2. Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
Again, a city in Madhya Pradesh managed to take place in the list of cleanest cities in India. Bhopal ranked second for the last two years repeatedly. In partnership with the Smart City project, Bhopal has invested over 40 crores in garbage transfer stations. They also recycle waste, which is then used for road construction.
3. Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
The GVMC (Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation) is gaining an appreciable ranking in cleanliness in the Swachh Survekshan 2020. Vishakapatnam follows three cleaning services, with each one facing a rigorous 50 point inspection. It also includes customer reviews, history, complaints, ratings, satisfaction, trust, cost, and general excellence.
4. Surat, Gujarat
Surat, the port city of Gujarat, is one of the cleanest cities in India. The movement to clean up Surat began after the plague struck it in 1994. SR Rao, who was the then municipal commissioner, started the systematic cleaning up of the city. He introduced numerous innovative steps to keep the city very clean, and they are yielding good results for Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) even today.
5. Mysuru (Mysore), Karnataka
Mysuru topped the list of cleanest cities in India by Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for 2015 and 2016. But now its rank has lowered a bit. Mysore has tried to maintain this cleanliness since the old Mysuru. 6. Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu
The citizens of Trichy found it was the negligence of the corporation that did not take the cleanliness of their city very seriously in the year 2018 as it dropped its rank to 13 from 6. But now, it has retained its title as the cleanest city in Tamil Nadu.
7. New Delhi, Delhi
Once the dirtiest city in India, Delhi has managed to be amongst the cleanest cities in India. The segregation of waste right at the source is what made Delhi garbage-free. Further, the authorities attempted to solve the pollution issues by making their city plastic-free. It has been ranked high in the Swachh Survekshan.

9. Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh
Shri Venkateshwara Temple receives around 65,000 pilgrims each day. On special occasions, this number rises to about five lakhs. The temple is recognized as one of the most iconic sites. But it is still on the go to make it beautiful again.
12. Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
The city lost its ranking in a recent cleanliness survey, due to its bad performance in the nation wide-cleanliness survey.
